    Open wide your covered eyes,
Take a moment to get past the disguise.
    Open wide your covered ears,
To the sound of her painfully shed tears.

Close your eyes to her pain,
It will forever remain the same.
Close your ears to her screams,
She will never reach her dreams.

When she knocks and asks for help from you,
Tell me, what is it you will do?
Will you open the door and let her in?
Will you send her back to the lion's den?

Will you lock up your door tight?
Will you turn off the porch light?
Will you turn up the radio really loud?
Will you let her continue to live under a dark cloud?

When blood is finally does spill down,
When all you can do is wear a frown.
Remember it was you, who turned around,
And pretended you did not hear a sound.

nice! don't get hung up on rhyming as it can pull you away from WHAT you write to HOW you put it on paper.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
