Eighteen Years
After nine months of waiting, you finally give birth.
You think she is the prettiest baby on earth.
Your baby is learning how to walk at the age of one.
Your life of activity has just begun.
Multi-words begin to form about the age of two.
Those "terrible two's" will you make it through?
She is learning colors and numbers at the age of three.
She is laughing, playing and running free.
Next thing you know she will be turning four.
When you realize she is not a baby anymore.
The first day of school at the age of five.
She is your biggest joy and you are full of pride.
As time creeps along she is turning six,
She likes to play in the dirt with sticks.
Time flies and you realize she is turning seven.
She is truly a gift from heaven.
The clock keeps turning and she is turning eight.
The fun of teaching her how to roller-skate.
The years roll by so fast and she is turning nine.
She draws pictures you pictures of her own design.
As the age of ten knocks on your door.
It is hard to see the child there anymore.
At the age of eleven her emotions begin to take a spin.
Her life of talking on the phone is about to begin.
At the age of twelve she starts to leave "tom boy" behind.
You begin to wish for life to go back to the simple time.
At thirteen she begins to worry more about her hair,
She is beginning to notice how all the boys stare.
Now the age of fourteen is coming around,
You learns she loves to act like a clown.
The age of fifteen brings dreams about cars and boys.
She has said "good bye" to all her childhood toys.
At sixteen she begins to drive and stay out late.
You're full of worry because she has begun to date.
Seventeen years are gone, and you look back to the past.
Your beautiful girl has grown up so fast.
As eighteen comes around she is ready to leave home.
Tears fill your eyes as you realize she is grown.
She is out and on her own but she always calls you.
You raised a happy women and you know it is true.
