Only One Rule To Live By

I've been drifting upstream for far too long.
The open road's ahead of me,
But I'm too busy living with blinders on.
    Expelled from high school.
No support to excel and I live by only one rule.
    "To be my own authority."
Don't look twice at any group or fool
which they consider me a minority.
Because I see a picture that they cannot see.
I understand what most people consider being free.
That life is not for me.
People get lost into their little worlds.
Live day by day listening to another persons words.
Set on a course they were never meant to be.
Because every person was meant to lead.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
