One More Night
One more night to cure my pain, drinking solution after solution,
I find him passed out again,
surrounded by his music.
I try to stay, watch him sleep,
but instead I take a bottle,
feel it cold and hard on my lips,
I drink away my personality.
When he wakes I walk outside,
not ready to face his truths,
I stumble into the daylight,
unaware of his eyes watching.
Once again I walk back,
with no words I crawl to him,
surrender to his poison,
fall into the darkness.
And then I'm back to the same thing,
wanting absolution from this,
but finding myself in his embrace,
distracted by the music of his broken soul.
Once more I say "One more night",
but I know I'll stay,
for his magic pills, his broken dreams,
will always enchant me.
So I give up my fruitless reverie,
lie in his arms, let him taint my soul,
pick up the solution and swallow it fast,
close my eyes and listen to his magic lullaby.
I may never get my happy ending,
but I pretend I will if I stay,
yes, he will become another lover,
If I stay for one more night.
