Once I was normal
At one time I was normal,
but that was long ago.
That person’s on vacation,
and he’s never coming home.
I’m trapped within these walls,
a prison in my mind.
Vainly searching for the key,
that I will never find.
Running around in circles,
beating on the door
crying like a child
stomping on the floor
My will to live is fading,
like a castle in the sand.
The ocean tide is winning,
I can no longer stand.
I want to build a time machine,
to go back from where I came.
A time when life was happy,
and all was fun and games.
I tried so hard to make it.
and things were going well,
But something awful happened,
and it all went straight to Hell.
I wake up every morning,
to try and earn my keep.
But the days stretch on forever,
and the nights’ won’t let me sleep.
I pray to God every night,
to end my constant pain.
But he no longer hears my prayers,
my efforts are in vain.
The child is gone and all that’s left,
is an old and broken man.
Won’t someone stop for just a moment,
and lend a helping hand?
but that was long ago.
That person’s on vacation,
and he’s never coming home.
I’m trapped within these walls,
a prison in my mind.
Vainly searching for the key,
that I will never find.
Running around in circles,
beating on the door
crying like a child
stomping on the floor
My will to live is fading,
like a castle in the sand.
The ocean tide is winning,
I can no longer stand.
I want to build a time machine,
to go back from where I came.
A time when life was happy,
and all was fun and games.
I tried so hard to make it.
and things were going well,
But something awful happened,
and it all went straight to Hell.
I wake up every morning,
to try and earn my keep.
But the days stretch on forever,
and the nights’ won’t let me sleep.
I pray to God every night,
to end my constant pain.
But he no longer hears my prayers,
my efforts are in vain.
The child is gone and all that’s left,
is an old and broken man.
Won’t someone stop for just a moment,
and lend a helping hand?
