    Ohd to America's Soul

    OHD TO AMERICA ’S SOUL
    By Kevin Degidon

July 4th fireworks bring the thrill of living,
But the soul of America is found in Thanksgiving.
    As Washington spoke of,
    de Tocqueville opined
    Rockwell’s pastel images enshrined,
    Of a self-governing citizenry defined.
The hope of a people who’s world is their own,
To reflect on their lives as the nation has grown.
Set asleep all that is fear and strive,
And marvel of freedom and of life.
Gathered with family, faith and community,
In joy, gratitude, hope and unity.
To steward her heart to be strong and stable,
While heralding the each step to expand the table.
So tell all the world as we sit and pray,
To know of us is to know of this day.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
