Nothing

I would have followed you to the world's end.
I have turned myself inside out,
And rearranged myself again and again.
Nothing I do is ever good enough for you...
Nothing I say makes a difference to you anyway.

Everything I feel...
To you is no big deal.
The man I thought you were is simply not real.
Now,nothing you say will make me stay...
Nothing you do will keep me from leaving you.
I have nothing left to give you
There is nothing left to do
The God in my heart has shown me this truth.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
