    My Love That Shines

As the day follows to me true,
how can I ever be so unfaithful to you,
my love has bound us to be,
you are all I really see,
you are the king of the land and my heart,
and being your queen is my part,
how is it that someone can say
"why did you play on me today?"
though hearts a tremble as you can see,
    someone just let me be,
my king, you are all that I love
I am your queen and all above,
    as the stars they twinkle
the rain falls with just a sprinkle
    I will always be true.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
