My Lord of the Shadows

My Lord of the Shadows

Stepped out of the sunlight into the darkness
longing for this someone to take me away
Have felt him inside me, calling to me
burning like an inferno of flames

Not sure where I am going, I turn to the shadows
feeling him growing nearer as the darkness surrounds me
feel a presence, fear starts to set in
I call out timidly, “Who is there?”

Within a heartbeat, he is at my back
arms grab me and hold me tight
I try to scream, to put up a fight
as he whispers in my ear, “It is I my child.”

With a delicate touch as if holding a fragile rose
he turns me to face him, bringing me close to his chest
“I have waited for this moment for 1000’s of years.”
His eyes pulling me in, confusion, head spinning
~I faint~

yeah...and then WHAT?? Dang-gummit..how ya' gonna leave me hanging like that?? Just when it seemed death was eminent you break away for a commercial break. Oh well, I'll have to read the next one. I like your style, and since I haven't quite figured out how to do the whole friend request thing..could you hook me up? Check out my stuff, mostly dark, some mushy, some silly but all good!! Talk at ya' later, A.T.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
