Poem Commentary

Expression of emotions is good especially when one doesn't have someone to tell, a piece of paper can be that someone.

My Heart Is Torn

My heart is torn

For my spirit I mourn

All my hope is gone

There’s pain in every bone

My flesh hosts a thorn

I can’t stand the night zone

As I wait for dawn

I feel valueless like a pawn

I’m a king in the checkmate zone

A unicorn robbed of its horn

I wish I was never born

I struggle on my own

It seems I’m always alone

I wish the night was gone

So I can see the light of dawn

Pain is all I’ve known

A sad picture is what my life has drawn

Help me to mourn

For my heart is torn.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
