    MY GUY ( GUY FAUKES )

    Your ragged coat ~ once like new,
    Now potted with patches ~ sewn and glued;
    Buff coloured trousers and chequered vest,
    Adorned me once ~ as Sunday best.

    Socks and shoes ~ to thee are tethered,
    I once strode ~ in this fine leather;
    As I look up your face to see,
    My old flat cap ~ a crowning thee.

    Now ~ all dressed in my attire,
    Atop this glorious ~ burning pyre;
    Burning fiercely for all to see,
    An effigy ~ of a soul set free.

    Wow! The rhyme, and the manner in which you put forth your picture is very very good! I like this one!

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
