My Father Smiled At Me Today

My Father Smiled At Me Today

As the sun came up

His smile shone bright

And then even brighter

As he looked at me

My Father smiled at me today.

Blinding was the intensity

Warm and soothing it was

Soft and bright

Me, chosen from many

My Father smiled at me today.

At times he seems so far

And others so close

Like I am the only one

Like he loves me the most

My Father smiled at me today.

He embraced me in his arms

Safe and secure in his promise

Loving in spite of myself

Wealthy beyond belief

My Father smiled at me today.

Love the idea that we are each one special and blessed. Very well done. Particularly like the second stanza.

Heartfelt and inviting. It embodies just the shaddows of the completeness we've yet to experience in eternity. "Please Father I want more" ... comes next, I'm thinking. NICE.

Actually, the sun was just up and bright; it was a beautiful day and the sun reminded of God in all His Glory. The more I thought of it, the brighter it shone and it seemed like I was the only one experiencing it. So, with the joy I felt in this beautiful morning resulted in this poem.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.

Walt Whitman, American Poet (1819-1892)
