my daddy is not Superman
My daddy is not Superman hes a boy like me
I know because I saw him cry the day he had to leave.
My daddy is not Superman hes skin and bone and meat
I know because he says hes hot there in the dessert heat.
My daddy is not Superman his Mother told me so
She knows because she held his hand and she watched him grow.
My daddy is not Superman hes just a plain old guy
I know because he told my mom he hoped he wouldn't die.
My daddy is not Superman he is a Super Man
I know because hes proud to work for good old Uncle Sam.
My daddy is not Superman he just wears special clothes
I know because they all Salute him everywhere he goes.
My daddy is not Superman yet he protects us all
I know because he answers when duty comes to call.
My daddy is not Superman he has no Kryptonite
I know because hes soft and sweet and kisses me good night.
My dad was a soldier yes I'm an Army brat. I wrote this poem after talking with a friend who's hubby is deployed. It reminded me of how I felt about my daddy. If a Soldier were Superman, his family (or hers) would be his only Kryptonite because they are the soul reason a soldier lives to fight for our country another day.
I know because I saw him cry the day he had to leave.
