MY CHERUBS

MY CHERUBS

THERE IS A HOLE IN MY HEART
THAT I JUST CAN'T FILL.

MY HEAD KEEPS ON SAYING
THAT THIS IS HIS WILL.

MY EMOTIONS KEEP COMING
I CAN'T MAKE THEM STOP.

I KNOW THAT I'LL LOVE THEM
BEYOND THE DAY THAT I DROP.

NOT BEING THERE WITH THEM
IS A THOUGHT I CAN'T BEAR.

FOR I AM THEIR FATHER
AND THIS I WILL SWEAR.

THEY ARE THE VICTIMS
AND IT MAKES ME SO SAD.

BUT I WILL ALWAYS BE THERE
BECAUSE I AM THEIR DAD.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
