Poem Commentary

This poem was inspired by the forces that move the tides...

Moon

Moon,

slowly you awoke
with your light so softly
into a sleeping world
your treasures cast a golden light
upon this moment
a memory of our sublime.
so the mountains become my body,
and the trees, my heart
the shadows pass whispering
into the amber glow as
your light grows brighter
once again moving
the tides of our blue night
into lunar thoughts
which are my
songs.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
