Man's Best Friend

Poem Commentary

I was inspired by my puppy dogs. I love them so much and can't understand how some people out there can possible hurt animals so precious. It breaks my heart and i honestly feel responsibility to help in any way I can. I hope this poem touches some hearts out there. Just enjoy it for what it is. <3

Man's Best Friend

They are animals

like you and me

but walk on all fours

unlike you and me

they let you know when they're happy

they let you know when they're scared

but they show courage

ready to strike
and safe your life

They bark at the strangers

to warn them away

they are forever loyal

even when you forget to feed them

they simply scrape the bowl

and wait

they are there when you cry

they sloppily lick all the tears away

they also feel pain

when you hit them for barking at night

they also feel shame

for knowing you're right

but when you moved away and left him to stay

alone

in a world out of his control

did you feel shame?

Did you remember he was once your best friend?

I think you should publish this in a paper, people are so cruel about animals. Great write and reminder:)

thank you

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
