    Love isn't enough

When I was awake I thought of you.
And when I dreamt I thought of you.
I had no time when I did not,
    Think, think of you.
You left and now I’m all alone.
Now I stand, no dreams left
    And I can not cry,
    No tears left
    Only lies
    Are words of love
    From you inside my mind.
When I first laid with you
I thought you were the one
But then I stayed with you
    And then I was done.
I love you still as did before
    And I will forever more
    You came back
    And begged for me.
    Your love
    I couldn’t help but see.
Now it’s you that pushes me away
    Too afraid to fight
    Don’t know what to say.
    No words left
    Don’t know what to do
All I know is I want you.
But you push me away so I have to go.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
