    Love Glow

A brisk autumn day, when all the trees have turned out in full splendor. The simple joy of a walk along a secluded path through a breathtaking forest.

This is a day that you must share. With me, a lady, robed in gentle radiant beauty. To describe her would be utter foolishness, because I know not the words to describe a goddess.

She holds a power over me, a burning candle which glows deep within me. I must keep a reign on my mind.

Beware, the flame must never scorch the container.

I lead her to a ledge, and follow her gaze to a far away castle in a distant land.

We must turn back, I turn to embrace her, our eyes meet.

She knows as well as I do, so take one last look at her, and run to the ledge.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
