    Lost Nation

    Lost are we
    Lost are we indeed
A nation once stood under God
    A nation once prosperous
    A nation once strong
    A nation once just
    Oh, lost are we indeed.

     Murder is permitted
Yet the word of God is not
    Not a prayer uttered
    His name not mentioned once
How I fear the wrath of God
    His great awakening
    Lost
    So lost are we.

I can so easily relate to your poem. The world sometimes ,feels to me, to be so filled with hate and injustice that it test my faith.

Every day is absolutely a test of faith. It is good that we recognize that, though.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
