Lost and Found

Lost and Found

There's a gray cloud,
A dark, drooping tree,
An empty abyss,
Instead of the sea,
And then, there's me.

Every way I turn,
There's pain, there's anger,
Hopelessly lost in this horrible dream,
Where is my silver lining?

Why is it not possible,
To see this glass half full,
Why can my heart only detect,
Grief, the bad memories,
It took years for me to forget.

And now, just one leaf of hope,
Is holding onto my tree,
As winds of hate try to ruthlessly,
Pull it away.

So finally, I look, I see, I open my eyes,
I am too strong,
I have come too far already,
To drop all this now.

In one slight blow,
I push my leaf to the heavens,
For only God can help me now,
Please tell me what I am missing.

I sit, I wait,
All I see is hate,
From the ground to the endless skies,
I have spoken for too long,
To give up now.

I see my leaf,
Fly back down to me,
I am begging for freedom,
From this world I have unknowingly come to live in.

Etched in the leaf are simple words,
Yet, the words I need to survive,
The words I need to keep going,
You Are Found.

Thank you so much! This means a lot coming from you because i have read almost all of your poems and they are amazing. :)

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
