    Life in the war

Before this war life felt free. Nothing holding me back. People laughing, playing, freedom never felt so good. A baseball game is going on. Swoosh the ball flies toward the batter. Ring, ring bells on bicycles going down hill. Ding dong it’s the doorbell for a party. So much life going everywhere. Life was so happy. Until Bang, bang the Nazis have arrived. Taking every Jew in sight. Pushing, shoving, and kicking I see blood on the street. Everyone screaming. Tears roll down my face I’m scared. I’m taken away in a blanket of darkness I’m thinking “why?” Why are they doing this? What did I do? What have the Jews done to deserve this? We arrive at a labor camp. I’m separated from my parents. Now it’s only my sister and I. She is my world the reason I need to stay alive for. They take everything from us. Now we’re starving, sick, and cold. In this place it’s everyone for themselves. Death is something we see everyday. Bodies being dragged and their clothes taken away by others so they can stay warm and live a while longer. I pray my family to live. I pray this war to end. I ask why does this man hate us? Some people say he’s a hero but I think of him as a beast. I want to go home back to the happier days. But now I have only one hope and that is for this tragedy never to repeat itself.
