Justin
I was a freshman, the year you moved away.
I’m so proud of you to this very day.
A strong man, raised to be great,
And to respect everyone, never to hate.
You have nothing to be ashamed of, everything you do is true.
Have I told you yet, I look up to you.
It’s almost as we are closer, but further apart.
I’ve got a place saved for you, right in my heart.
After Texas you were stationed in the UK.
When we dropped you off at the airport, I cried about the whole way home, I’d say.
You’ve grown up so fast, it’s crazy, you know,
The memories of us playing in the back yard, in the snow.
And I’ve grown up too, trying you keep up with you, and impress Dad like you do…
You’re stationed further now, way in Japan.
What’s it like there? Do you get tan?
June 2011, please come visit,
Watch me graduate, you just have to sit.
It’s all I want; my family sees me succeed,
Following your footsteps until it’s time for me to lead.
A brother, cousin, uncle, and son.
Before we know it, you’ll be in Air Force One.
A hero to all, but family to me,
United States Air force is where you’re meant to be.
