JUST WHAT I AM WITH YOU’

    BY; JOHN R. BUTCHER

‘JUST WHAT I AM WITH YOU’

    WHEN THE NIGHT WAS YOUNG,
    I WOULD THINK OF YOU.
AND WHEN THE NIGHT WAS OVER,
MY DREAMS WERE FILLED WITH YOU.

    I KNOW I’M NOTHING SPECIAL,
    NOT RICH OR IN BETWEEN.
I’M NOT THAT GREAT TO LOOK AT,
BUT YOU ARE ALL MY DREAMS

    YOUR EVERYTHING I’VE LOOKED FOR,
    ALL THROUGHOUT THE PAST.
FOR I DO PRAY TO HEAVEN,
THAT OUR SWEET LOVE WILL LAST.

FOR I BELIEVE THAT GOD HIMSELF,
    GAVE TO US THIS LOVE.
AND THAT IS WHY, I PRAY EACH DAY
    TO MY LORD ABOVE.

THAT WHEN THIS LIFE, IS OVER
AND ALL MY YEARS ARE THROUGH
THAT YOU WILL KNOW, INSIDE YOUR HEART,
‘JUST WHAT I AM WITH YOU.’

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
