Japanese Princess

Japanese Princess of the rain,
gave her battle and wisdom,
in many of her lives in Lizavere,
in a twister breaking every tree in site,
to get her avenge for her sister who was
                                            killed.

I was intrigued by the title of this poem and was even more intrigued by its execution. Perhaps it describes the spirit of some samurai noblewoman out of antiquity, who, anguished by some great injustice, manifests her rage against it by manifesting (in a later era) as a destructive storm. It’s 99% that I’m completely off the deep end with such a wild interpretation, but the fact that you could compose a brief work like “Japanese Princess” that would bring such an interpretation to mind is remarkable. Great work!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
