    Into The Night

    The powwow is over
    The dancing has ended
    One by one the People
    Disperse to homes and campsites
Campfire flames can be seen in the dark
Voices and laughter can be heard from each site
    The parties are starting
    They last through the night
From one campsite to the next
    The drums could be heard
    The songs of the Elders
    Heard long into the night
Heat lightening streak across the sky
    Clouds cross before the moon
I feel the ground beneath my feet
The warm wind blowing against my cheek
The shadows of the trees dance in the breeze
My heart, mind and soul feel free
    As my spirit soars high
    Touching the heavens above
All this is here for me to see
    Embrace, remember and not forget.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
