IF
IF
When I feel the dread of doom
do I feel this for others
Is a child lost somewhere
while grieving for their mother
Does the still of the night
wake an energy
Left to feel the horrific pain
of people's miseries
If I enhanced my listening
to hear their bitter plea
Will it then be explained to me
how to help their soul with needs
When I feel I'm at death's door
I try to close my eyes
If I think I feel a soul
are they asking if they died
How am I to know the truth
I've not yet met my death
Am I here to give my all
even if it's my last breath
My thoughts can be irrational
when fearing the unknown
It's fight or flight to extremes
I can't do this alone
Death must bring great happiness
If the end is a resting place
Am I cursed with energies
that leave me incomplete
If this somehow makes some sense
If what I write is true
Lay my soul to rest Dear Lord
It has been long and overdue
