    I am scared and alone

    I am scared and alone

    I wonder about the world beyond my view

    I hear my friends call out my name

    I see hands reaching out to me

    I want to know that I’m safe

    I am scared and alone

     

    I pretend to be happy and smile

    I feel the walls of my shell closing in on me

    I touch the mask I wear for the world to see

    I worry I will never find happiness

    I cry out for help that I can’t find

    I am scared and alone

     

    I understand that the world is not always bright

    I say I’m fine to everyone that asks

    I dream of finding a world that I can feel safe in

    I try to be happy

    I hope that I can find a sanctuary in this world

    I’m scared and alone

    Well done, little one. You have captured what it is to be young and confused. Try not to close yourself out of the world, instead go forth and explore. Your words are potent. You are not alone.
