Hood
Smoke clears, two bodies lay on the ground, another homicide,The tape outlines the body, as the dust returns back to the earth.
Two buildings, one in the front the other behind it, 12 floors up,
Overlooks the city, as a foul forlorn of hope:
Stillness surrounds the earth, as onlookers stop and sees “survival of the Fittest”,
Walking up the stairs the piss, marks the hallways,
A cockroach scatters across the floor, a mouse trap in the corner.
The bars on the windows resemble jail, the community resembles poverty,
the elevators is broken.
How will these people ever get “out” does anyone care?
If there was a fire it will resemble the Triangle fire, no outlets just bodies plunging to their death. Is this what we settle for?
Blaming everyone but ourselves for not achieving. For ages the white man is whom we believe has,
Put us in this gap coming from slavery and never getting
Reparations for being enslaved, like other cultures ,during our 246 years of slavery...
So upset and repressed from these so called actions,
We took matters in our own hands, by importing the jails, locked up like animals.
Right where the white man wants US, you shout from the top of your lungs; they want us behind bars to kill off our generation. Does anyone hear you?
Is projects a set up? like on purpose ,overcrowded on purpose, depression from society on purpose, when we were here first?
Is the feeling, as you leave your home, not embraced because you are living like animals?
Eating the scraps that the government feeds us, “LIKE SALVASGES “While in Africa we were Kings and Queens,
Isn’t it time we stop making excuses on, why not to leave the hood,
Why not to educate ourselves, why to remain on welfare:
To remain in the system so the government can toy, with our character, haven’t,
Enough martyrs died for us. For us to make an excuses not to educate ourself.
To look out the window and see “poor crack heads”, smoking crack that our neighborhood supply.
Hood is where you reside, however, that does not make you beneath.
Another person that did not reside where you have came from, or that you represent it with your style and dress.
Hopeless, oppression, onerous, divests, when will this change come, Hood has marked territory...
