Hero of the Rodeo
He's the hero of the rodeo, eight seconds is a hell of a ride.
when you get tossed from an angry bull, there is no place to hide.
Sixteen hundred pounds of hate is waiting, just inside the chute.
He's snorting, stomping and kicking, for someone to cut him loose.
The rope is cinched, his grip is set, his knees are locked in place.
He's ready for the ride ahead, determination on his face.
The gate swings open, a twist, a turn, then all he grabs is air.
But he knows, there's no need to fear, "the rodeo hero's here"!
With painted face and tattered clothes, he's there to test the bull.
While the crowd is laughing, thinking, "this clown is quite the fool"!
But a braver man has never stood, on that barrel in the sand.
And if any clown can take this bull, he tells himself, "I can".
You see, it's his buddy who is laying there, between the bull and him.
Now it's time to do his job, this time he' going to win.
But it hasn't always turned out that way, you know he bares the scars.
From one to many encounters, with the beast behind the bars.
He wouldn't trade a broken bone, for any other way of life.
Because he knows his friends may need him, on any given night.
