Heart of Black

Poem Commentary

This is the first poem I have ever written. I wrote this when I was going through a bout of depression.

Heart of Black

My heart is black, my world is grey
I wish someone would take my pain away.
I use lots of smile to cover the hurt
Even though my heart is like a frozen desert.
But inside I am slowly dying
All my nights are spent crying.
My friends and family can't tell my laugh and smile are fake
Or that I soon will break.
As I sit in my room thinking of my life
I realize that under my pillow is a knife.
I take it out and start to think
'I can end this all in just one blink.'
The knife cuts deep
And I start to weep.
I see the blood on my bed
And realize that I will soon be dead.
The blade drops to the floor
As my parents come through the door.
They rush toward me
And start to plea
"Oh, Lord, please don't take her."
My vision starts to blur
And I see their tears.
I have just brought to life their deepest fears.
My heart was black, my world was grey
I was finally able to take the pain away.

Intense!! So many many times we only look at one side of pain. THe side that we look at or the side that is most clear is the side that effects us. Often, the fear that reside within the pain makes us think that no one can truly understand what we are feeling. We try desperately to gain the attention of those around us. Hoping that somehow they hear our plea. Suicide never takes away the pain, for it will be waiting you on the other side. Strong write, nice flow

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
