    Hamburger

    I thought of you
    While stirring
    Hamburger meat
    The sizzle of memories
    Audible in my mind

    Sadness welled from
    A place of mystery
    And overwhelmed my
    Dejected heart

    I took a step back
    From ground cow
    Lest my tears
    Mingled with supper tonight
