GREATEST FRIEND
GREATEST FRIEND
WHOSE THAT LITTLE GIRL
WITH TEARS IN HER EYES
SITTING OUT ON HER PORCH
LOOKING UP TOWARDS THE SKYS.
SHES TALKING TO SOMEONE
WHO?I CAN'T SEE.
SHES TELLING THEM EVERYTHING
IN CONFIDENTUALLITY.
SHE SOUNDS SO GROWN UP
BUT LOOKS TO BE ABOUT SEVEN.
YET SHES TELLING THIS SOMEONE EVERYTHING
THIS SOMEONE MUST LIVE IN HEAVEN.
I REMEMBER JESUS LOOKING UP
WHEN ON THE CROSS,TEARS IN HIS EYES.
HE WAS TALKING TO THE FATHER
CRYING OUT TO HIM,AND THEN HE DIES.
THIS LITTLE GIRL MUST HAVE DIED TOO
DAY BY DAY,YEAR BY YEAR.
DYING EVERY DAY TO THE WORLD
WHILE HOLDING ON TO HER FRIEND SO DEAR.
HE SHOWED HER THINGS SHE NEVER KNEW,
TOOK HER PLACES SHES NEVER BEEN
REMOVED HER WOUNDS BUT LEFT HER SCARS
SO THAT SHE'D NEVER FORGET,HER GREATEST FRIEND.
