Poem Commentary

In loving memory of my father. J.R Fogle. December 21, 2012 .

Father

You are like a picture before me.
Forever young, happy,complete
Unchanged for all of time.
But you are not here.

I hold out my arms for a hug,
You can no longer give.
You are not here.

I wait for you,
To walk through the door.
To tell you I love you.
You won't be comeing.
You are not here.

I wait for your laughter.
At the joke you told,
A hundred times.
But you won't.
Your not here.

But I close my eyes and
Feel the warmth of your arms around me.
I can hear the sound of your laughter.
I can hear your I love you.
Because behind my closed lids,
Are a lifetime of memories.
You are here.

You are here.
In my heart,
Forever with me.
My father.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
