THIS GIRL'S BEST FRIEND IS HER RAZOR,
SHE DOESN'T LIKE THE COMPANY OF OTHERS,
SHE'D RATHER LISTEN TO THE WORDS OF BLOOD,
THAN TO THE ADVISE OF HER MOTHER,
HER FRIEND IS ALWAYS THERE FOR HER,
IT HELPS HER THROUGH THE HARD TIMES,
IT KEEPS ALL OF HER DEADLY SECRETS,
AND TURNS BLIND EYES TO HER CRIMES,
BUT HER FRIEND IS ALSO VIOLENT,
HER FRIEND'S WORDS CUT HER DEEP,
EACH SYLLABLE SLICES THROUGH HER WRIST,
AND KEEPS HER FROM HER SLEEP,
WHEN HER OWN SPECIES CAST HER OUT,
HER FRIEND ALWAYS OFFERS SUPPORT,
WHEN EVERYONE IS GIVING HER THE COLD SHOULDER,
THE RAZOR OFFERS LONELY COMFORT,
THE RAZOR EDGE WILL BREAK THE WRIST,
SLIT & CUT & SLICE & SLASH,
BLOOD FLOWS FORTH AS A RED RIVER
DEEPER & DEEPER SHE CAN'T LOOK BACK,
THE GIRL'S ONLY FRIEND IS TYE RAZOR,
EVEN THOUGH SHE'S PRETTY CLEVER,
BUT THIS GIRL LIES DOWN TO WEEP AT NIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE KNOWS FRIENDSHIP LASTS FOREVER.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
