    Poem Commentary

    Inspired by the Mars Explorer.

    Explorer

    Piercing into night,

    With roaring thunder

    And supreme intent.

     

    The programmed command

    Shedding metal skin,

    Turning then burning.

     

    Here begins the dance.

    Mathematical,

    Purposeful falling.

     

    Chartering the void

    Amidst whispering,

    Radio guidance.

     

    Until at it's feet,

    A backdrop of red,

    mountainous splendor.

     

    And the new species

    Compartmentalized,

    Awaiting command.

     

    Leisurely unfolds,

    while gathering sun

    And awakening.

     

    Behold the landscape,
    dusty, desolate
    reddish rock and sand.

    A stretch of the legs,

    Motoring forward

    Cautious and precise

     

    Distant observers

    In rapt enthrallment

    Treading paths unseen.

     

    The discovering

    Of new landscapes by

    Remote chartering.

    Wow, interesting poem this must be related to the mars rovers. I wonder how far we the human race will advance if we can learn to live with one another and start looking at the bigger picture. I liked your poem unique and distinctive from others I have read.

    Very nice...precise. Why you said your talent was lacking I'll never guess. I found your imagery very succinct and delighted in your subject. A nice layout, as well. Thanks for sharing. :o)

    Thank you fo your feedback. It helps a lot. I guess the reason I question my talent is because I want to be better. I always question the way in which a poem comes out of me, because it is always just a shadow of the pure form it holds in my mind. After writing it..., it summons that emotion to me, but I always question whether or not Im inspriing that in the reader. It means a lot that a poet of your caliber can appreciate my work. =)

    Great Topic! The Mars explorer revealed the effects of wind and water. I believe that the data show water repeatedly came and left billions of years ago. It was suggested that the wind persisted much longer, heaping sand into dunes between ancient water episodes. These activities still shape the landscape today. Great Job! Very Interesting! :))
