    Don't

Don't tell me to be happy,
    Because I'm not.
    Don't tell me I'm sad,
    Because I am.
    Don't tell me I'm strong,
    Because I'm weak.
    Don't tell me I'm pretty,
    Because I'm not.
    Don't tell me to smile,
    Because I can't.
    Don't tell me to laugh,
    Because that's impossible.
Don't tell me not to cry,
    Because I can't stop.
    Don't tell me to forgive,
    Because I don't know how.
    Don't tell me to forget,
    Because I won't.
Don't tell me to hold on,
    Because I'm already falling.
    Don't tell me I'm stupid,
    Because I already know.
Don't tell me to just keep breathing,
    Because I shouldn't.
Don't tell me to let go,
    Because I'm stuck.
Don't tell me to move on,
    Because I won't.
Don't tell me not to breakdown,
    Because I will.
Don't tell me not to disappear,
    Because I'm invisible.
Don't tell me not to go,
    Because I'm already gone.
Don't tell me not to remember,
    Because I already do.
Don't tell me it'll be okay,
    Because it won't.
    Don't tell me I'll survive,
    Because I'm not so sure.
Don't tell me to be happy,
    Because I'm not.

this is so depressing. this person is so deep in their despair that they are clinging to it. they are willfully resisting all aid to return to happiness. stubbornly persisting in their melancholy, waiting, waiting, waiting, but for what they aren't exactly sure.

That was really powerful...it was very touching. I was feeling happy before I read this, and now my heart is breaking!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
