Don't Miss the Kiss

The pictures that You let me see
Are nothing compared to the real thing.
The glimpses I see through the trees
Are just shadows of Your coming.

When every knee shall bow
And every tongue proclaims: Jesus reigns!
And there I’ll be with You my Lord;
In Your sweet arms again!

Beware of many commentators;
Their words are not the Scripture.
If you have trouble seeing,
Ask the One who drew the picture.

He did not draw it in a way,
So that He could confuse you.
Just crawl up there upon His lap,
Because He won’t abuse you.

Then ask Him plainly: Lord, what was
Your meaning when You said this?
And He will share it with you
In His love and with a sweet kiss.

In my bare feet, staring into Your fire,
That’s where I want to be.
The sound of Your voice, drowning out
Every liar, so I can finally see.

Commentators are not prophets,
So examine every word!
Then test the spirit with the First,
The Second and the Third!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
