A Lovely Well
It doesn’t matter what I do
When both my eyes are fixed on you
I see your power and I’m afraid
But then your love drives fear away
I’m moving to a strange new place
My one desire your sweet embrace
Still watching as you draw me near
Jesus it’s just your voice I hear
Its sound is that of rushing water
My lips are sealed no words to utter
But when I speak the truth I’ll tell
I’ll draw it from your lovely well
We’ll give them everything they need
And by your Spirit they’ll be freed
From all their greed and lust and malice
To live with us inside your palace
No evil through the gates comes in
But only those who are born to win
The prize of life that you hold dear
The desperate and needy dwell in here
Each gate is made of a single pearl
And outside those lukewarm are hurled
No sun or moon or lamp at night
The Lord our God will be our light
Into this place the nations will bring
Every good and righteous and holy thing
And how will we respond to this
Our crowns we’ll offer as a gift
To the one who truly deserves them all
And at his feet again we’ll fall
When our time stops eternity begins
Because Jesus cleansed us from our sins
His grace is like a cleansing rain
He washed away our every stain
The Word of God is the key we see
To all the good there will ever be
So how then should we treat our brother
With respect and honor as we treat our mother
Our Father knows our every thought
And with His Son’s life we were bought
When both my eyes are fixed on you
I see your power and I’m afraid
But then your love drives fear away
I’m moving to a strange new place
My one desire your sweet embrace
Still watching as you draw me near
Jesus it’s just your voice I hear
Its sound is that of rushing water
