Deuthschland Morgen
Morn' crept up silently through the receding fog
No sirens nor choppers, no baying of dogs
It wrapped an embrace around me with a brisk, steady wind
Not cold... crisp, a chill cleansing of sin
And within the heart of this gentle, steady breeze
The earth and the sky, they spoke to me
The language was unknown, for german I can't speak
But the gist of the message wasn't wasted you see
It spoke of the earth, the flowers, the trees
It confided the secrets of the stars in the sky to me
It cradled my soul close to the lands' natural beauty
It numbed my pain, my third eye could see
A joyous content came over me as I stared at the sweeping hills
Unlike any induced by liquor, weed or pills
The emptiness in my darkest pit seemed missing... filled
The monster consuming my soul was absent... killed
The depression was gone, I was...something... thrilled
My secular, nomadic lifestyle seemed quieted... still
I closed my eyes
Cleared my mind
...for just a moment...
I silently cried
Then inhaled as deeply as my lungs would allow
Exhaled carefully, so as to make no sound
Opened all three eyes for the first time and found
There were three of me, standing around
Within my wife I found a reflection of my love
Moments of youthful exuberance I discovered in my pup
The path was open, within myself I was in touch
Then suddenly us three, the land, the sky and sun became one
And I heard morning speaking ever so clearly...
"Welcome Home Son"
No sirens nor choppers, no baying of dogs
