    Depressed

    This river flowing within me
What can I make of it
    Sharp pangs of pain accompanied
As I retch and strech in pain

    What has become of me
A prince so filled with valor
I shrink and escape into my self
Like a snail in times of woe

Feel like I am at cliff's edge
    And about falling, falling down
    In great depression I tremble
Deprive me of these sorrows!i wail

    I stumble and almost fall
Struggle for relief as I go down
Can I get myself together again?
I keep going down, down, down. . .

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
