Deliver Unto Hell

Poem Commentary

I wrote this for a contest a couple of years ago...Obviously didn't win but nonetheless it was a fun piece to write.

Deliver Unto Hell

Wisely pacing the caverns of my soul,

Wedged in my life's demise waiting to unfurl.

The rigid hand of darkness has the staring role,

Destine to push me through the shards to the underworld.

Wrapped in a burning cloak of black,

This darkness looms so near,

Whipping and slashing my spirit back,

Down this forsaken path of fear.

The journey now has just begun,

As day fades into night,

Scarred and trampled my being succumb,

To the deepest sinister abyss of my plight.

Weary is this body of mine,

As one last breath I sell,

The darkness has come by design,

To deliver me unto hell.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
