    DEAD ZOO

Take a drive, Down any road, Look to the right or left,
See whats left on either shoulder or in the weeds,
Something black and white smeared on the centerline,
Most drive to avoid. Others can't help it,
I see Deer, Woodchucks and little Muskrats,
Thier lifeless eyes stare as I drive by,
Opossums, skitish Squirrels, Whats left of family Pets,
The Idiot up ahead runs off the road on purpose,
Just to take out a family of raccoons, Feels like a real man!
We run them over, we run them out of where they live,
We ruin the chain of survival as we move in,
We run em over without a care, Like Butterflies we pick out the grille,
Bloated bodies in the ditch, Roads Red with bits of fur,
Only to prove Rabbits feet are not really lucky too,
With birds stuck under our wiper blades with out a notice,
So as you see this Zoo is everywhere, Along every road and highway,
No petting, No feeding, Just dead and rotting for all to see.....

Too true. I live outside the city limits and I see this carnage everyday. I keep moving further out but the city keeps catching up. There is no respect for life. It is just a game to some. Thanks for bringing it to the forefront.

indeed a sight to see...kind of like a science fair, huh?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
