BEACON OF THE HEART
Twilight came as the sun slowly set,Candle light flickers on shadowed walls,
As she climbs round and round up the stairs,
She reaches the top, Slowly she strikes a match,
She lights the wick and lowers the glass,
Her gaze searches the darkening horizon,
Just as the beam of light searches the sea,
She watches as waves rise and fall,
He slowly rows his little boat between the swells,
The beam catches a glimpse of him, As does she,
Shaking her head, Not understanding why ?
He comes ashore now, Stands below her light,
As with every night, She leans over the edge,
While down below he yells his love and devotion,
All she hears is the surf upon the breakers,
She shakes her head slowly, Sadly he leaves again,
Back in his little boat he rows away, Staring up into the light,
Seeing her watching him as she glows within the light,
Like a sun in the middle of a dark, dark night,
He wonders aloud to no one, Why?, As she blows out the light!
As she slowly strikes a match, It lights my world,
She touches my heart with a flame so pure,
With a love so bright, Like a beacon it draws me near,
Like a moth to a flame, I shall always be there.........
