    Poem Commentary

well, I've had trouble sleeping since I was 12 years old. And I am not ashamed to say that I am also afraid of the dark. Even now at 34 years old. I wrote this about my nightlight!

    Damn Bare Bulb

    That damn bare bulb
    Always glaring at me
It haunts me, it taunts me
    That one single bulb
It's always just the two of us
That damn bare bulb, and me

    That faithful old clock
    Keeping time just for me
The rhythm beats inside of me
    That same ticking clock
Has always been there for us
For that damn bare bulb, and me

    Little dust bunnies
    They sure entertain
    Gliding, and dancing for me
    My furry dust bunnies
In and out of the glare
Of that damn bare bulb, and me

    You've seen me laugh
    Seen me cry
You've seen me love out loud
    You've always been there
    By my side
    My lonely, my lovely
    My beautiful bulb
    My friend, my enemy
    My one, my only
    My damn bare bulb

Well done. Sounds like you're talking about and to a close friend.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
