    Childhood

    POEM WRITTEN BY LAURA PEREZ:

    CHILDHOOD

I would like to write about our fears,
in which sometimes causes others tears,
We see something in our loved one,
that gives us fear and not any fun.

But we don't see that giving into these,
can hurt them more than kids that can tease!
Oh, the pain and heartache it can cause,
and make them see so many more flaws!

I wish I could tell you all,
to just love them, big and tall
    For they are beautiful today,
as they are each and every day!

I know this pain I speak to you,
as a child I was told what not to do
My main goal was to not get fat,
and all I saw in the mirror, was just that!

When I looked at all those pics,
of my childhood way past six,
Then I saw a chubby girl,
Enough to make me just want to hurl!

But now I can see the beautiful child,
that was calm and not at all wild!
Most of all, though, I can see,
the beautiful child I was to be!

So Mommies and Daddies please see
all the positive things your child can be!
Don't give them all your fears,
as they will have their own tears!

Just love them as they are,
and they will go so very far!
Hold them and give them love,
For they are as beautiful as a dove!

I can almost tell that that was for real for you , because I too felt that way as a child . but thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ I can see beauty not just in me but in all the world around me. thank you for the beautiful poem.

Thanks! I am very glad my poem touched you as it was real for me for sure!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
