    Changes

I am not who i was once in the past,
i can never be who i could have been,
    my yesterday is disappearing fast,
does anybody know what these all mean?

You are not who you were once anymore,
you won't be what you were once meant to be,
for somehow, your life won't be like before,
do you know the meaning of what you see?

Somehow, something took place that altered us,
something that changed the world we both live in,
the world we once owned just turned into dust,
to form another, we've never known or seen.

With all these changes, with all these shifting,
there are so many things i don't understand,
making me greatly fear what i am feeling,
for it has gone beyond apperception's hand.

But despite the fear that envelopes me,
despite the uncertainty of it all,
there is not other place i'd rather be,
than behind the veil of a waterfall.

A world of haven, where it is reigned by peace,
a place that makes us believe in forever,
a home safe from the spiderwoman's kiss,
a world that means nothing without each other.

Perhaps that is the reason for all those changes,
this miracle happening right before our eyes,
making us see beyond mountain ranges,
could this be, what they call paradise?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
