    Burnt Out Adoration

I wanted to turn the page
For on the other side was you.
Then we heard the echoing wrench
And knew it was all through.

I ached for you, I burned for you.
    Heat sizzled this frost-bitten heart.
Until grace poured out molten hot
A chilled mold of another start.

Tell me how does one please a man?
Hold back our weapons of destruction?
Learn how to be sharp enough to
    Create the peace of reconstruction?

Oh how it can hurt, fire red hot.
Blisters break out on my soul.
How do I take the pain still left?
How do I fill the seeping hole?

Love burns red hot, but so does pain
Line so close, sharp vision begged.
Is it love or a heart seared with hate?
Or the page on the wall, sharply pegged
    .

Release it, you don't need it, you are flown free. Your words testify to that, leave the pain behind. Love/hate don't co-exist, one will drown out the other or they will separate.

A well written poem with excellent metaphoric content. Welcome to the site.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
