As The Tide
As the tides rises, her anger builds.
She watches the sun go down.
But the hurt is still there.
She knew the day would come.
She knew her heart would be broken.
As the tide draws back, her anger turns to tears.
She cries her heart out as she tells the moon her story.
She listens to the sweet song of the night.
She listens to her hearts song.
She listens to her mom's whisper in the wind, her voice so angelic.
As the tide dies down, her emotions settle.
She'd lost the one person who she'd given her heart to.
She'd confided in her mother, found a friend in her.
Now that her mother was gone, her heart longed for her warmth.
Longed for their nights spent watching the sky.
Longed for their heart to heart talks.
Longed for her mothers arms to be wrapped around her.
Longed for her mothers love, so tender and warm.
As the tide goes away, she smiles inside.
She looks out at the ocean and feels free.
She knows her mother will always be there.
She knows her mother wouldnt want her to be unhappy.
Though she had no say in losing her mother, she felt indifferent about it.
Nothing and noone would ever replace her.
As the tide becomes gentle, her heart sings its song once more, carrying over the water.
The cancer had taken over.
She felt like cancer was someone instead of something.
Someone who had gotten the best of her mother.
She vowed never to let it get the best of her.
She vowed that one day she would fight back for her mother.
She vowed not to cry at the funeral.
She vowed to carry on her mothers legacy.
As the tide sleeps, so does she.
She lets the sand embrace her as the ocean sings her to sleep.
Blanketed in earth she dreams of the day when she and her mother would be together again.
