    An Ominous Fog

    So thick it's suffocating
    Too heavy to move
And to big to see around
    Instead of making us sad
It drags out our faults- all of them
Into the harsh, bright sunlight and rubs it in

It rubs in the hurt of every person we lost
It rubs in every failed love and every wound a
    friend made
It rubs in every suicidal thought
    Every F and D
    And it whispers

It whispers that your best is not enough
That no matter what you will go nowhere
And that staying here in this God forsaken place hurts more then helps

    It drowns you
    Beats you
    and kills your loved ones
    It takes everything including
    Your last shard of hope
    And it beats down your
    faith
    And then there is nothing
And to end it all would not
    hurt
    Because you have been
    Wiped clean
    No emotion
    No connection
    No life
    No will
    and no mind

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
