    Albino Rubbed White Powder

    Albino rubbed white powder

I saw her face that morning whiter

This must be the world’s 8th wonder

She was white but in no way better

Her long white hair even looked longer

Which I believed was not true, after

My mood that morning became lighter

As I greeted every scene with laughter

‘Oyibo!’ she turned and seemed to be bitter

She walked on and did not falter

I nearly stepped into a pool of water

As I thought why Albino must rub powder

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
